Real Life

8 Jul 2006 In: Life

This morning my wife, my parents and I went to get breakfast at The Poplar House. A great little dive for breakfast in Spring Hill. That was our plan for the day. That’s it. On the way back to the house we decided to do some shopping in Franklin and then head downtown and see what we could find to do. We saw a billboard for an Egyptian exhibit at the Frist Center. Sounds good, we will check it out. It was really cool and interesting. On the way out we saw there was an exhibit upstairs of photography. The photography was Pulitzer prize winners. I was expecting a quick run through to check out the “nice” pictures. Wrong. We spent more than an hour or so reading every caption. The emotions that I felt: Horrified. Disappointed. Ashamed. Sad. Mad. Happy. Excited. Disgusted. Embarrassed. Those are a few that I went through. I encourage you if you are in the Nashville area to check out this exhibit… I believe it’s in other towns as well, you can check out this page to see if it is in your town. Pulitzer
Pulitzer Racism
What did I see that was so amazing? Life. Humanity. Inhumanity. Struggle. Success. Racism. Love. Violence. Death. Life. It seemed that the majority of the photos were depressing. I guess the photos that leave a lasting image in your mind are the ones that will change you or your outlook. I was at disbelief of how we as humans treat each other. It’s unimaginable- no words come close to describing how evil men and women can be. I don’t want to get morbid.. and I don’t want to get down on “life”, but this really triggered my mind racing and wondering why or how can this happen. I know the answer. We as a society are walking away from God more and more everyday. Sounds like an easy answer or “out”… blame it on God or lack thereof in people’s life. Sorry. Well not really. I don’t apologize for what I believe. Most of you know me, and you know I’m not a Bible beater nor will I show up at your house begging you to “meet” Jesus. I do hope that my life will reflect what I believe and my life will reflect how Jesus has made my life complete. I’ve always tried to be politically correct when talking about what I believe. To other Christians I look like I’m embarrassed or ashamed. I’m not. I respect other beliefs, I don’t agree with them, but I won’t be like others and just shut them out or make fun of them. I know many of my “friends” think Christianity is a joke, and think I am ignorant for believing it. No worries, we are still friends (I hope). I am not perfect. I Never will be. However I will try, not to be perfect, but to live my life the way I believe Jesus intended.

Thanks for reading. Love another person today, tomorrow, and every chance you get.

Need a Hero?

Today was a cool day. I got to be 8 years old again… really I did. I was supposed to be mixing a Jazz record but we had to move it back to next week. No big deal. My day was now free. What shall I do? I knew exactly what I was going to do… I was going to see Superman. WOW. I have to admit, I did feel like a kid again. I remembered why I used to love to go to the movies.

Today I was reminded of my love for creativity and imagination!!! Not that movies today are lacking in this dept, but for some reason this movie just took me back 25+ years and I loved it. Superman lives up to his name, he’s the all American superhero, and I agree with the main theme in this movie. The world needs a Superhero. The world needs someone to believe in. I thank God everyday that he has given us our Superman, the one Man in whom we can all believe in and KNOW without a shadow of a doubt that through Him we can make an impact and change this world.

So now you know that I loved Superman as a kid (if only I could show all the pics in my Superman underoos), I was Superman. Today I remembered why.

Anyway, thanks for reading and obviously I highly recommend this movie!!! GO SEE THIS MOVIE!

Wolfmother

If any of you are old school rockers, into Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath, you should definitely check out WolfMother. They are from Australia and have been naturally influenced by older american “rock”… however, they didn’t “rip” it off. You can hear a lot of creativity and influence in the music. I’m really into it, maybe because I’m tired of the same old pop stuff that keeps finding it’s way onto my ipod.

Check it out:

Well it’s been a while since I’ve been on. I’ve tried to be consistent. Sorry, hasn’t happened. First off, the baby stuff is going great, we find out on July 10th that it’s a boy. We’ll see. We haven’t bought anything or done anything special, I guess we are waiting to find out the sex before we do anything!

As for the music world…Tone Box is going well… I’ve had a few meetings and talks with some bands over the past few weeks and it looks like we are getting close to signing a few… which is way cool.

We signed two seperate promotional deals for Our Hearts Hero. One is in connection with NASCAR, Purina and Target… this is very cool and will give some great exposure. That promotion will last through 2006. The other promotion is with Powerbar, and will run most of the summer. This is great exposure for indie bands and Tone Box’s promotional deals keep coming!!!! Congrats to Our Hearts Hero!

This week I’ve been working on tracks for TV shows and TV specials… details will come once I know more… or when I am at liberty to say. It’s been a very cool thing, something new and I must say I like writing songs that are only a minute and a half long!!!

Next week I’m mixing a Jazz record… a first time for me. I’ve mixed some Latin music, and some of it was along the lines of Jazz… but this is full on Jazz. I’m sure it’ll be fun. I’ve been mixing some indie stuff off and on, and really like doing that. I’m going after some more projects to mix and have mastered… Indie bands: send it to me!

Hmmmm… That’s about it for now. Nothing too exciting. Thanks for reading.

Tone Box Records… Sports… Life

17 May 2006 In: Life

I hope everyone is doing fine and dandy.  It’s been a while since I’ve been on here, so I figured I’d jump on and update you guys with some cool things going on.  Tone Box has been staying busy, we have recently signed on with some new digital services.  We currently are distributed through 50+ digital services world wide… yes world wide.  Technology is so amazing, I would have never of thought of selling music in countries all over the world… we are an indie label!!!  But, I am truly thankful.  I have been checking the “Stat Tracker” on the Tone Box site and we are getting hits from all over as well… including the following countries:

  • Korea
  • Australia
  • Japan
  • India
  • Estonia
  • Peru
  • Portugal
  • UK
  • Fiji
  • Singapore
  • Israel
  • Hong Kong

The world is truly becoming flat!  We have recently signed a few more promotional deals including Amazon.com, HI5.com, MP3 and others.  We are really excited about all that is going on with Tone Box.  We are currently seeking a few bands to invest our time and energy in… yes we distribute bands, but we are looking for a couple to really invest in and make the face of Tone Box Records.  We have talked with quiet a few bands and feel we are getting close on a few, but if you know of amazing artists please let us know!

In order to keep doing what we do, we need your support.  Prayer support and word of mouth support.  We have been blessed to launch and work with many artists and we have done this so far without debt and backers, while it’s not easy… it’s what we believe we are called to do, so we will continue building and creating outlets to reach this world!  Please keep us in your prayers and if you have something to bring to the table please feel free to contact us!!!!

I am sorry to push that and be so forward about Tone Box, but it’s what I believe God has called me to do, so here I am.

now sports… ( I sound like a TV announcer!) and this is a sad one:

  1. It looks like McNair is not gonna be with the Titans much longer.  I must say I am frustated for him, I don’t think that he has been treated with the respect he deserves, yes it’s been a rough few years, but he took them to the Super Bowl and the playoffs 4 out 5 years after that… not bad.  Don’t get me wrong, I love the Titans, and I am way excited about Vince Young, I just don’t like how they are treating McNair…
  2. The Predators… hmmm.. out in the first round, sucks.  Vokoun could have helped a bit, but I believe the offense shut itself down…  not scoring means not winning.  Not hard to figure it out.  Even if Vokoun shut the sharks down, it would have 0-0 forever!!!  Augh.  It’s cool, I am looking for some time to recover from all the late games… and I am still not sure who I’m pulling for the rest of the playoffs… any suggestions?

The baby is coming along great… we had an ultrasound last Monday, and we got to see him/her moving.  God is cool.  The things he’s able to do are way cool.

I hope all is well with everyone and thanks for the support and prayers!!!!

Rock. On.

In Short...

I've spent most of my life in music and marketing. I currently work as an interactive marketing manager. I launched an indie label in 2004 with one artist and 11 songs. We now distribute over 30 artists and 600+ songs worldwide. I write music tracks for multiple tv/movie/music catalogs. No I can't tell you which ones... it's like ghost writing. I want to score a movie one day, indie is fine. I love the beach. I love loud music. I love my wife, my beautiful baby girl and super-cool son.
